We have been traveling north on the ICW for one month as of today. When we left Ft. Lauderdale we were told we would run aground. I (Janet) thought it would never happen, especially in a catamaran. Well now you know who was steering the boat when we did. I was coming around a green marker at Ramshorn Creek and cut a little close. Not only did I go aground, but after I stopped there was no going in any direction again. We waited while the tide continued to go out, both rudders and propellors were completely out of the water. Then about 6 hours later we were afloat again. It was a humbling experience. We did have several people offer to help, however, with the boat "high and dry" there was nothing to do but wait.

We stayed for several days in Charleston,SC and enjoyed the old homes and Ft.Sumter among other things. It's so easy to stay at the Charlest on City Marina and get around town either with their courtesy van or the city buses. It's also convenient to restaurants. We have found the people in the towns along the way to be very friendly and helpful. In Brunswick, Ga a fireman gave us a ride to a restaurant because he said it was too far to walk. We stayed at the Brunswick City Marina there where the laundry was free.We have found many marina that have cars available and in Belhaven you could drive a golf cart to town. Our last stop before Norfolk was Coinjock, NC. We stayed at the Midway Marina and used their courtesy car to go to the Coinjock Marina Restaurant for prime rib that was fantastic. There have been some bridges along the way where we had to go under at low tide as our mast is 62.5ft - Hwy Bridge at sm 252.4, Atlantic Beach sm 206.7, Morehead City sm 203.0 and Wilkerson sm 125.9. We are looking forward to going into Norfolk tomorrow and starting to sail up the Chesapeake Bay.
